Updates to the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Toolkit
PAEA, in strong solidarity, believes it is of utmost importance to accurately reflect numbers associated with underrepresented minority groups in PA education and clinical practice. The Quick Facts & Figures page in the version of the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Toolkit that was released on July 15 excluded data on the largest non-white community in the US: individuals of Hispanic, Latinx, or Spanish origin.
We are all learning in this space and want to be as inclusive as possible. Therefore, we are intentionally re-presenting the demographics data in the Toolkit to paint a more complete picture of racial and ethnic diversity among PAs. Having a clearer view of the numbers allows one to observe the existing disparity and then begin to work toward closing the gap.
The new version has been uploaded to the Digital Learning Hub.
We want to give programs a solid starting point to examine their practices, climate, and cultures so that the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Toolkit and Best Practice resources can be utilized to their full potential.
