PAEA Celebrates LGBTQ Pride Month

Each June, LGBTQ Pride Month commemorates the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan, which activated a series of protests, initiated by transgender women of color. The event became a catalyst for our nation’s Gay Liberation Movement, which sought to end discrimination against the LGBTQ+ Community. This year, more than 50 years after the Stonewall Uprising, we celebrate the progress that has been made, and recognize that there is still work ahead in paving the road toward equality.

As we welcome Pride Month, we also acknowledge the incredible responsibility our members face to reduce health disparities for sexual and gender minority patients, educate the next generation of compassionate, culturally sensitive PAs, and end discrimination in their classrooms and communities.

Explore the resources below, which can be found in the LGBTQ+ Channel in our Digital Learning Hub, for guidance on caring for LGBTQ+ patients, creating inclusive cultures, and fostering safe spaces for students.
