Description of Job
The LIU Brooklyn School of Health Professions is seeking a full-time Program Director and Assistant/Associate Professor to lead our accredited MS program in Physician Assistant (PA) Studies. The Program Director is responsible for effective leadership and management of the PA Program. The Program Director carefully attends to issues related to personnel, program and institutional processes, and application of resources. The Program Director employs strong communication skills in all situations. The Program Director analyzes and proactively problem solves. The Program Director monitors, oversees, mentors, supervises and delegates as appropriate to the individuals, setting, or issue. This is a non-tenure-track assistant/associate professor (commensurate with experience) position with 12-month responsibilities.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Organization and administration of the PA Program, including operations (e.g., fiscal management), personnel management, scheduling, faculty workload, etc.
- Continuous review, analysis, and upkeep of curriculum and policies, including review and revision of syllabi for coursework taught in the didactic and clinical phases
- Identify, assist in the development and coordination of clinical rotation sites
- Interact with the Medical Director, principal instructional faculty and staff
- Supervision of program assessment and accreditation processes
- Teaching didactic and clinical year students: both lectures and laboratories
- Advisement for students in didactic and clinical years; oversight of student grievances/appeals
- Participation in student recruitment and retention
- Provision of remediation instruction to ensure student success
- Participation in and coordination of interprofessional education activities
- Communication with the School of Health Professions Dean and other university leadership
Requirements:
- Applicants should have a minimum of three years of PA education leadership experience, five years of PA program teaching experience, and five years of clinical experience
- Applicant must be a NCCPA certified physician assistant with current New York State licensure or New York State License eligibility
- Minimum Master's degree from an accredited physician assistant program
- Must have experience with Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) accreditation standards and physician assistant program responsibilities
